Moderator, please close this thread and pretend We never knew of these matching '43 dated examples. wow, of all the auctions I see and this one slipped by me. oh well, if I had seen it then I would now be explaining to My Wife why I need an easy $1500+ cash for some old deteriorating clothing. I wonder if She would view them the same way as I would... Glenn

My last question, what is so special about the 1943 date and the Erfurt mark? Is it the fact that it is dated? Or is this a rare maker??
I couln't find an answer to my question by searching the forum.
          Thanks!

Nick, as you said, its just most of the time you dont see a depot stamp/date on these types of clothing. mainly just a plain RBNr# if anything at all. I assume probably just 'cause they get washed away. am I right Werner? Ive actually only seen a few examples with a date on them. most of these were of '44. yes Edwin, please post pics of the parka when you get it. boy, I know these werent in the best shape but that would be a great ensemble to have all 3 pieces with the same depot mark/date. yup, that would have been nice. DATED WINTER CAMO ITEMS ARE RARE
Most items I have just have a Rbnr or makes mark, but I have to look fo one wih a date, I don't know it by heart. ( or how do you say this in english)

Stamps did not wash away easily.
I had very dirty, even overpainted camo items where stamps were hardly visible. After washing them the stamps came through as new !!
Some silly collector put his name and address stamp next to it, that one was completely washed away.
So the way the stamps were applied, prevented them from being washed off.
I do believe they could be worn off by extensive use.

modified hood for better camouflage, less visible white liner

The one on the right just dropped in:

Te one on the left was already in my collection...and much easier to find

Still, they show a certain similiarity:
