    German winter dress!!!!

    Hi guys!

    My name i Roger and i have a question for you. What purpose
    has the two black stripes on the both arms on a geman winter
    dress.

    They were colored armbands in order to identify the wearer as a german soldier, russian soldiers also wore white overgarments and a reconaisance system was developed to avoid being shot by friendly forces, the combination of colours was changed ofently so the foe can't use it to penetrate the german lines.

        Hi Roger, even the original 1942/43 field grey issues of the winter reversable jackets had buttons to hold the coloured ID armbands. It was a design feature from the start.

          Hi again!

          Now my last, last, last question. Did the luftwaffe use this
          kind of stripes on there winterdress??? Our was it only for
          the heere (army).

            Hi Roger, yes, the Luftwaffe used the coloured armbands too.
