    Useless to argue

    I based what I wrote from talking to WWII American MP Vets and my Father who was there in the American Army from 1943-45. I can only relate what they told me happened. I have not seen any newsreels and am not "sure" of anything because I was not there to see it.

      I am undecided what to do with it. One thing certain I am going to keep it and since I do not have any replacement boards anyway I will leave it as is. Should I find some boards I may be tempted to restore it, but I am in no hurry.

      Should it ever be retored it would not be to create a "Frankenstein" only to retore it to it's original look, but if this is correct about the cutting off of shoulder boards in POW camps then it is a nice relic as is.

      Either way I am happy with it and glad that I was able to get it before someone else did. It is a flea market find.

        Based on where you picked it up, I think Franz made it home
        and you are the first collector to have it.
