Lets see your Wehrmacht Musikmeister / Musicians Insignia

Here is a pair of shoulder boards for a Luftwaffe Musikmeister, circa 1938

Note the "Civil" style Lyre which was often used by the Luftwaffe.

Here is an early piece... pre Apr38 for an Obermusikmeister. This is one beautiful board.

                Diane,

Didn't the Heer use the same boards? For instance, your board would be for a Heer cavalry officer? Just checking because I am not absolutely positive.

You are correct Richard! In this case, it is a Musikmeister assigned to a Flight unit. Music leaders wore the waffenfarbe of the unit they were assigned to.

                      Diane or Paul,

Was there a different style of lyre for Luft vs Heer? I see a different style as in Paul's post #7 and the 2 Luft boards depicted. I have seen other Heer boards with that same style in metal and embroidered as # 7 also. Thanks,

                      Richard

I think that there were two types... Political(flat bottom harp) and Wehrmacht(rounded bottom harp). From what I have seen, they were commonly intermixed.

Paul is correct. Here is a 'political' style lyre on an Army Panzer board.

Paul, if that Luftwaffe tunic ever needs a new home, let me know.

I know that Sander asked first, but I think I can take him....

No one has posted any EM embroidered insignia yet so I will post my one and only...so far. I scrunched the shoulder up some for the photo, that's why the shoulder board button looks like it's in the wrong place.
