    Panzergrenadier shoulderboards opinions.

    Hi.

I have these and I wonder if they are original.
They are in nice used condition.

    Thanks
    Derek

IMO, somebody has cut them open and installed fake panzer piping.

They look pretty rough! The piping does look installed. I like to see the piping tucked in at the ends also.

these do look a bit rough. I have doubts about them unfortunately. as said, the stitching for the piping does not look "right". Glenn

                  Thanks.

Could it have been done by the soldier ?

thats probably pushing it Derek. I would assume that when a soldier switched branches they were given new insignia at battalion level. I have never heard of field tailors doing such things. I highly doubt they had piping at their disposal. Glenn

                      Hi Glenn.

                      OK thanks.
But do you think the shouldeboards itself are original ?

I dont think so. This would be the equivelant of a private in the US Army casting his own metal PFC rank cheverons in the field. I agree with Tony's assessment as well. This seems to be the product of a determined collector! But... who knows! I have seen weirder things in period photos.

Isn't the pipeing for a panzergrenadier a different color? Thought it was a light green color
