    General Gebirgsjäger coat

    Hi fellow collectors,

I bought this beauty yesterday. The coat is a private purchase and everything is made of the best material. The golden buttons are larger than normal ones and are marked with an assmann sign. The edelweiss is just lovely, it has a golden look over it and that just fits great with the coat. Everything is original mounted and the seller said to me in the end it came from General Krakau... We will never know if it's true but it's nice to know as I own a picture of him.

    Enjoy the pictures.

                      Hi

Do you see any evidence of previous pips attached to the boards? Do the age of the boards match the tunic?
Krakau made it to generalleutenant? He should have 1 pipps on each boards. I found information here axis biographical Research.

                      Coingratulations

Juan, I just search myself and your right there should be one star... well like I said, we can't be sure it's his coat. Maby it's his old one .

I would think he would have up-pipped the boards on this. When he was promoted from Colonel to General he probably got a new greatcoat, but once he had the general's greatcoat, he would simply up-pip it with a new rank. The only way to be 100% sure of a named piece is if it has the name written it in or provenance that it came from him or his family. I have a friend who has an SS-Sturmbannfuhrer of Wirtschaft tunic. It has no name in it but it is a major of wirtschafts, has the Hohenstaufen cuffband and loops for one badge. In the history of the 9. SS-Panzer-Division, the Wirtschafts-Battalion had only two commanders, one a major and the other a captain. Helmet Thole was the major and had the War Merit Cross with Swords First Class (the only badge on his tunic). So my friend considers that it was PROBABLY Helmet Thole's tunic but not 100% guaranteed because it doesn't have his name in it... just a PROBABLE.

Hi Bob, it was told to me it came from a group that was split and normaly I will meet the man in Kassel, he got's the other stuff of him so than we will be sure . I think the story is true because a unfamous general like 'Krakau' will not just be invented.

Well actually it doesn't realy matter for me, I bought it because there was an edelweiss on it .
