Shown here are two Luftwaffe Eagles I picked up yesterday. These were in a scrapbook assembled by a US Army veteran who served in the 361 Tank Destroyer Battalion. There were 7 Bullion eagles total and all were very similar to the one pictured here. The family would only part with one! The bullion eagle measures 3 1/2 inches overall (3 1/4 inches wingtip to wingtip). The smaller cloth eagle measures 2 3/4 inches wingtip to wingtip. Both eagles are on a black felt base material and the bullion eagle has a black cloth backing material. Any comments would be appreciated. .....Thanks, Harry C

Both are nice originals. The black eagle was sewn to black overseas caps for the HG Panzer Division as well as black HBT mechanics caps. It was also sewn to HG Panzer black M43 caps too.WAF LIFE COACHComment

I agree, both original.., however the flash in the pics makes me believe that the officers' has a common blue backing and the cap eagle has a very dark blue backing..
Black has to be black, even with flash.
Some " Heer Panzer " items have the same problem, when exposed to light it often turns out to be Navy blue.
As a note, Luft Panzer often used the common blue eagles, which IMO these 2 eagles are.

Jos, Both of these eagles were made on black felt. The bullion eagle also has a black backing cloth. Both the eagles shown here were photographed outdoors on a cloudy day without using a flash. They are both black for sure.Comment
