That's a pretty cool cigarette case Rob. I like the eagles too.

The mark note is Allied military currency for occupation troops in Germany. Many pith helmet eagles were surplus after the war and were made into various souvenirs for Allied soldiers. I would guess that this cigarette case would fall into this postwar category.

Thankyou for the comments chaps though I have to disagree with Chris ,the British soldier was souvineer hunting in Africa and he found 2 Tropical breast Eagles and a Tropical pith helmet badge simply attached to a cheap cigarette case . I very much doubt he wanted to buy such a basic case let alone have one with an Eagle and Swastika on it.I have never seen one like it except for the myriad of Bulgarian fakes on ebay .To me its clearly a trophy from a German soldier .Rob

Nice find Rob! Cigarette case is nice, no way to tell if its post war. Probably is original, either way still a nice find
                        Regards,
                        Gary

I like the case. The troops in N.Africa were very proud of their posting, (look at the 'DAK' rings we find, and period photos of m40 caps with added pith helmet shields), so this could well be an original momento. Of course, we'll never know, but it's actually quite tasteful.
Love that Heer tropical tunic Adler.
                          Well Done!

Very nice. The case is definately period German. I think the emblem was probably period applied, but difficult to prove or disprove. If your happy thats all that matters, I sure would be. WR JIM

                              Rob,
Nice set, I love all the Afrika Korps items and you have a nice set. For added punch for a small display see if you can add a nice DAK ring to the display.
It finishes it as a personal display, just my opinion
                              Bill
