The tan and water a.k.a. sumpftarn pattern

Hi, I noticed that there seemed to exist several different types of this pattern. Could someone be so kind and give me a short introduction to it? I would like to know how to tell the different types apart and examples of it's use. I'm mainly interested in it's use by Heer units rather than by the fallschirmjägers.

Yes, I think your book sounds interesting but unfortunately the high price makes me a bit uncertain.

I have the book and it has already saved me much more money that I paid for it. For me, it's been more than worth it.

Your book does an excellent job of showing the differences between wartime german and post-war camo of similar patterns. I am curious, though, if anyone has reproduced a wartime splinter or marsh pattern after the war? If so, what are the indications of the cloth being original or reproduction?

orig or repro splinter cloth

unfortunately there are some reproductions made by Jancke for instance .
When compared with original items it is so obvious what is repro that it really doesn't cause a problem.
Most repro's are 'honest' re-enactment repro's . They look like originals from far , but are clear repro's from up close : the colors are different ( brighter, the white is sparkling white) , the stitching is different and - most importantly - the cloth feels different .

I do not own a repro , but I did compare several dozens of them, none has fooled me so far !

The winter camo repro's are good, but the cloth and the very white inside gives it away mostly.

PS I think the book is expensive too, but that is not my decision unfortunately, but you can be sure the money is well spend !
