Hello. My question is: Were the Wool Shoulder Straps for the Tropical Wool Overcoat used on the Tropical Tunics as well? Or were only canvas and cotton types used? Thanks!

Shoulder boards

From what I have seen and read almost any variation of shoulder boards and sleeve rank were used by the soldiers. Especially later in the campaign when insignia was harder to come by. I have seen wool tropical chevrons,wool tropical boards and continental boards used on tunics.I believe you will see the DAK collar tabs and DAk breast eagles on the E.M. tunics more than the continental stuff because it was issued this way. Due to wear and tear and promotion I believe that the shoulder boards and sleeve rank were replaced more often from a dwindling supply source. Just my opinion.
