coastal artillery sidecap
i have a coastal artillery sidecap,my query is this,the eagle on the cap appears to have been stiched on by hand,would this have happened,or were they all machine stiched?If they were all machine stiched,then am i in posession of a fake or copy? Any help will be gratefully recieved!TIA

It is very comman that they are stiched on by hand, I would not use that as a way of measuring originality.

Hi Yorkie,
I agree with Chris I own an SS Side hat,very salty, insignia almost worn down to the base cloth definitely original to the cap and hand stitched on. Ditto an Army side hat I also have. Just beware coastal artillery hats often get passed off as SS M40 Schiffchen!!
