Post items found on your tunics...

Who do not search in the pockets of tunics when just purchased???

One day I was at a friend******180;s home who was proudly showing me up his latest addition, a nice named WH tunic from an officer who served at the Eastern Front. I told him if he searched the pockets: 'Why? for sure hundreds of people did it before me! he said. Nevertheless, introduced two fingers in one of the breast pockets and draw out a perfectly folded in half russian banknote!! imagine our enjoyment with this item brough back from the tunnel of time!

Post your happy findings if any.

    My finding

Obviously I did the same with a LW officer's tunic but only appeared the seller's price tag which made me feel a painful remembering of the amount I had to pay for .
About one year later, making a periodical check for moth, I put a hand inside the french cuff, and... voilà! found this Bilderscheck. Think these are points check which comes with the cigarrettes to trade for pictures to put in an album. Further info will be welcome; it could be interesting to know what brand of tobacco he smoked to buy one of them if available.

    Cheers

Rad tunic and US tunic items

In a Rad tunic lining (fully lined officer's type tunic, which had a hole in the pocket) I found the guy's dog tags + several French (occupation money) coins + a Wehrmacht Kino movie ticket stub. Nice bonus items!
In a US uniform I found the guy's train ticket stub dated October 1945. A one way ticket from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I guess he came off the boat in LA and took a train home and his ticket was left in the pocket to be re-discovered 60+ years later. I framed it, but now I don't remember which uniform it came out of... oh well... Sorry no pics... Nick

Interesting thread Here are some of the things I've found....

A page from a Dutch calendar with some scribbling on it. Wrapped around this was what appears to be a funeral armband. This was found in the pocket of a LW Uffz tunic.

Some kind of tickets, maybe for laundry or wardrobe, found in the pocket of a LW Hauptm. tunic.

The oddest thing I found was a womans hair net for a blond in a pair of Pz trousers.

This fragment of a Syrian banknote came out of a Scottish Officers tartan trews. Nice thing was I know he served there before being KIA in Scilly.

                Cheers, Ade.

I once found a tortise(sp) shell comb in a German officer's service jacket.

Items found in pocket of a pair of Channel Trousers

I brought a pair of Channel trousers about eight years ago and found a compass extension strap, two ten Pfenig coins and a parachute packing check book all screwed up in a ball in the bottom of flare pistol pocket. It was a great surprise and makes the item much more personel and 'human'. I still check everything but haven't been as lucky again!

The only items I ever found in a tunic were hidden in the rear skirt pocket of a Waffenrock. The items were these pieces of newspapers.

I checked a Luftwaffe Flak Hauptmann's jacket I had years ago and feeling the deep turned back cuffs could feel something there.....looked deeper and found a "Civil Defence Corps" badge.....odd I thought then saw that the one on my bookshelf was missing and that was were I had hung the jacket earlier in the day......bit of a bummer!!!

I always check wallets and rear of Soldbuecher though as this is what I collect now....with that said behind the out cover of one that I had there was a photo of a really good looking lady, a water damaged letter (unreadable) and a lock of hair....the guy was married but no idea if this was his wife!?!?!
