    General Staff Officer

I was lucky to pick this up from Bill for my collection. It's a Major assigned to the General Staff. The name is Seigfried Jost and I am in the process of researching.

I will see your Major and raise you an Oberst.

I was lucky enough to get the breeches with mine - just wish they had the carmine stripes, but this was a field tunic and those stripes made great targets.

I was able to research my guy - killed in Russia.

Got my information from the Bunderarchiv. They do a great job and it's free. Sent me Xeroxs of the guy's records.

Could you please tell me how to get in touch with them and what info they require.
It would be great to find out who's staff he served on.

I almost forgot, did all staff officers have an Aiguillette?

I don't think that I can post pics, but I have a gen staff Hauptman with breeches with the correct lampassen. The tunic has a Krim shield and the set as always been together.

                Unfortunately, it's not named.

I'm going to keep trying, but it's just as good sitting there looking and wondering what history the uniform has witnessed.

I have copies of both volumes and couldn't find an entry for Jost. That may not be a problem though, as the records have missing items.

When I checked my rank lists the only Jost I could find was a Genmaj, later Genleut, of Jaegers.

Your best bet would be the Bundesarchiv.

                      Sorry,

                      Neil
