    Feldblusen without collar tabs

    Hi,

I've seen period photos (don't have anything there right now) of soldiers wearing Feldblusen (of the Heer) without collar tabs.
I believe even the lowest soldier's rank has some.

What does this have to mean?

    thx

    Hy

what i think it might be that at the begining of the war, units somtimes covered the shoulder boards and maybe even removed collar tabs so that the unit could not be reconized.

but í would tend to HIWI what basicaly means Russian Pow who is serving in the WH, he did wear army uniform without any sort of insignia, i have seen this on many period photos.

    cheers

    Alex

I have seen film footage of brand new recruits in training without collar tabs. In the footage, some soldiers had tabs and some did not, in the same training group.

I have some pictures in mind showing very young soldiers (maybe 12 to 13 years old)...

but you can tell that there was no common practice to offer no collar tabs to Heer soldiers, right?

That's right. Troops in regular Heer field units were all supposed to have collar tabs.

Maybe the soldiers wore "Drillich" clothing ? This kind of jackets were worn
            without any insignia.

            Regards, Kay

Is there any truth to the rumor that penal units wore tunics stripped of insigias
