Luftschutz armband

Hello!

I have just started to collect Luftschutz items and have been offered a Luftschutz armband.What i would like to know is how can you tell the difference between a real one and a fake one?
I know about the black light test,but is there anything else that can be done to determine if it is original?Or are these items normally not faked.Sorry i don't have a pic,but the armband i'm referring to is pictured on plate 34,item number 15,of the B.L.Davis book,'Badges and Insignia Of The Third Reich'.
Also if anyone could tell me how rare these are and what sort of price they go for it would be appreciated!

P.S would these armbands have an ink stamp on them like i have seen on other armbands?

Sorry Andy can't help you with that one. I hava a late model Luftshutz leader armband that I paid about $100.00 for. It's supposed to be rare. I've never seen another but I'm sure others in this forum have.


I'll post a picture later as we lost power a couple of times today and I can't get my pictures to come up.

Thanks Chuck!I've brought this back to the top as i'm seeing the dealer tomorrow and really need some advice! I don't want somebody else to make off with it!So any help at all would be appreciated!Also are there any books on the market that deal specifically with armbands?

OK,iI took a chance and got the armband,i'm happy with it (doesn't glow under black light!),but what do you guys think?All comments good and bad appreciated!

Andy, I wish I could help with a positive, but all I can say is it looks ok to me. Course I'm no expert and wouldn't really know where to look for anything out of sorts.

If it had been me I would have bought it. My leaders armband had no markings on it at all so I don't believe the absense of any on yours would be a problem.
