                      Blitzes

                      Paul and All,

These are all of my blitzes front and rear.Being the anal-retentive fellow that I am I love the variation in manufacture ,color, and material. The color can change from light, wear, and a myriad of different reasons. The backings also have tons of variables. Hope this helps out all that like blitzes!!

                        Blitzes

                        Paul,

I am sorry that I didn't answer your question in the last post about other colored blitzes. I have never seen an orange blitz. That would be for Recruiting, Army Police, and Ordnance(late War).It must have depended on what the units manning table was. Maybe they had signal branched soldiers assigned/attached to their unit?
There is always debate on if a blitz is for General Staff, Veterinarian, or smoke troops!!I have never really seen a clear cut color difference for these branches. I think that it is pretty subjective on some of the reds and pinks!
There wasn't a lemon-yellow signal blitz authorized for the signal branch, as far as I can tell, but you see them all the time. These could be for the female helferin but I thought those blitzes were to be on a black background!?!
Unless it is a totally mint example sometimes those colors are hard to tell. This is why I like collecting insignia! I really like the variation!

After looking at the great assortment of all your collections, I feel almost embarrassed to post the meager remainders of my Blitz collection.

I have always been partial to the hand embroidered versions in Trade/Proficiency and Blitz insignia. When I sold off the major part of my 3.R cloth collection years ago, I just couldn't part with some of my favorite T/P's and Blitzes.

This probably sounds like a dumb question, but after the Wall came down and the US was flooded with the East German Navy PO Rates mixed in with the almost identical 3.R rates, do you know if this was possible with the Blitzes? Were they also used by the East German Army in the same configuration?

                          Regards,

                          Gary
