This sounds like an unfounded complaint to me. I'm more inclined to believe that the buyer is tired of the tunic after having owned it for 18 months and is now trying to trade it for something else.

The tunic is original, the eagle is original, the buyer has no standing to complain. If you're going to collect tunics, pal - reapplied breast eagles are a fact of life.

All parts are original, consequently the item is original. I wonder what the guys with St.&L. KC's will say about this

If all parts are original, opinions as to originality of the eagle application are subjective. Even if it can be shown with certainty that the eagle is a replacement, there is no way to tell if the replacement happened before or after 1945. I have seen restored Heer combat tunics with eagles sewn on not through the lining that would fool anyone, myself included. Similarly, I have seen original applications that were very sloppy and would be questionable. I think perhaps all dealers should post a disclaimer like that on the Brocks Guns web site that details the perils of uniform collecting and the difficulty of determining the originality of insignia application, which by all accounts is more art than science. It ends with:

"In a few cases the items are undisturbed and I am certain myself they are original. In others, I can only present the factual details I have and you will have to make a decision yourself. I guarantee what I state in the descriptions of these uniforms, but you are the final arbiter."

Words to collect by in my opinion.

                  Dealer

Everything I have bought from Gerard has been accurately describe. I have never been burnt (which is more than I can say from other sources). I continue to plan to do business with him in the future. Tony

Thanks for all your help in this matter. I will forward all this to my friend. I have never dealt with Gerald, but from all the support he has seems like a decent dealer.
                    Regards,
                    Brian
