    m36 question

    hello guys..
iam not as often here on the board, and as less iam not a very big poster
my english istn as good as yours and so its hard to describe things for me

the WAF is a huge community and i hope that someone can help out with pictures

iam getting in progress to obtain a m36 with insignias removed
eagle and collartabs traces are still vusible

it will not be a problem to "push them up" with new OLD insignias

but the only problem will be the shoulder straps,
cause there isnt any more a button, nor a loop to slip on the strap

    so my question!

was it common in 39- 40 to sew in directly the straps for enlisted men?

or should i try to get old wool to make the loops?

does anyone of you have a m36 tunic of EM with direct sewn in straps?

    greets
    yours jürgen

    Welcome Jürgen!
I have a 1939 dated M36 and it has slip on shoulder boards. If you type 'M36' into the search machine at the top right of the page it will give you lots of M36 photos to compare. Do you have any photos of your tunic?

    Regards,

        jürgen,

Factory M36 tunics came standard with shoulder board loops, for the slip-on shoulder straps. However, some NCOs had dress type shoulder straps sewn in for "walk out dress" apperance but this was rare for the most part.

              Hi Jürgen
Your english is good and wellcome to the forum.
I used to have a M36 tunic that had no wool loops and someone, most likely period, had sewn a piece of fat black thread to use to fit the shoulder boards where the original loops should be.This seemed to be period done.
Other way could be buying some cheap repro shoulder boards and cut the needed lenght of wool and sew it.
              Hope this helps
              Ace

with loop i mean the loop on the tunic to slip through the strap

it would be more easier to explain if someone could post the tunic pic for me....

so therefore my english isnt as good

was it normal also for Enlisted Men to wear the shoulderboards like that?
