Nice tunic nodoubts but why did the soldier in foto wear the Infanrty piped Litzen and you have the General litzen on the tunic?did he change them?

          Hi ,
Dan i do not have a answer ,just looked at the patches and they are machine sewn and look like they have always been there,
          So that leaves 2 possibles.
that they are the same as the ones in the photo and they appear white for some reason?
they were change for some reason why?

Why does he wear them in the photo with artillary boards or is it more normal to wear general boards as you say with artillary ones.
Or as it's a posed shot was he originally in the infantry change to artillary but only changed the shoulder boards and change the collors later.
Who knows it would not be the 1st with mixed insignia
Hope someone can shed some light on this.
          Thanks Merdock

i seen already mixed insignia and that is not really important just i was wondering why they were differnt from the pics.
that pic maybe was taken before the wehrmacht decided to change the litzen with the general issue ones and then he took off those litzen and machine stitched again the ones that the jacket has got now.
I wonder if i was the oinly one who noticed that?did you ?anyway the jacket and the story is great of course dont get me wrong

              Hi Dan,
I did not notice nor anybody else ,the photo was taken at some other time as the krim shield was not damaged as it is now ,as the tunic appears to be 38 dated at what date was the change from one to the other implemented.
              All the best Merdock

                      Hi Merdock,
Maybe maybe maybe the litzen were replaced(i mean after the war) but i d like to see what experts say based on these pics.
                      Cheers!

                      Dan

                          Grüß Gott Oberjäger Merdock,

You have a very nice Gebirgsartillerie Nachrichten Oberjäger tunic. From the original photograph and the current tunic, you can see that the Litzen has been replaced.

The extra long shoulder boards are very typical for Gebirgsjägers, since they were used on the Windjacke (the double breasted wind jacket), as well as the great coat.

Since the original owner had the Krim shield, he would probably be from the 4th Gebirgsdivision which retreated through the Crimea after the Caucasus Campaign.

                            Hi,
Heres a photo from the other side same as the original for a better comparason how ever changed the patchesdid them spot on as there is no sign of other stich holes and i do not think it was done post war as why only the collors changed?
                            Any more input much appreaciated.

                                Hi,
In reponse to more photos here are some .
The rear of the eagle displays no sign of ever having a machined eagle through the linning, the eagle is sewn so neat and precise it was obviously put on by a tailor/seemstress as its that neet it looks like macline work .
On closer inpection it can be seen where the collorsthat are shown in the photo were, but it is my oppinion that the ones on it now were applied wartime due to where the tunic came from and the other serviving insignia
they must have been changed due to some orders.
                                Merdock
