    Reserve officer Waffenrock

    Hi

This is a nice reserve officer's waffenrock. It is my understanding that Regiment 119 was part of Regiment List. The tunic is in great shape and the only damage is on the back. It display great.

Officer in 25th Inf Div, Later 25th Panzergrenadier Div

Very nice waffenrock - the breast eagle is an example of one of the ones I consider to be a work of art. On the inside of the bottom right skirt, is there an ink "Gepruft" stamping with unit information?

The 119th Inf Rgt along with the 13th and 35th Inf Rgt was part of the 25th Inf Div. The division fought in Poland and France. In 1940 it became a Motorized Div and lost the 13th Inf Rgt. It fought in Russia beginning in 1941, taking part in the battles at Minsk, Kiev, and Moscow. Beat up at Kursk, it also fought at Smolensk.
After rebuilding in Germany, it was sent to France late in the summer of 1944. It participated in the Battle of the Bulge, eventually fighting near Berlin.

I did not see any references to the List Rgt.

                Hi Tim
I do not see any acceptance stamp in any of the waffenrocks.
Thank you for your time and information.

In the Ospey series " German Army elite units 1939-45 by Gordon Williampage 12 he stated
" In 1935 Infantry Regiment 19 was selected to carry the traditions of the 16th Royal Bavarian Reserve Regiment 'List', the unit with which Adolph Hitler served during the Great War. This lasted until 1939 when the lineage was passed to the Infantry-Regiment 119, part of the 57 Infantry division"

                thanks

                Juan

Here is an Infantry Majors tunic to the 119th regiment. It was brought home by a Canadian Veteran..

It's a Brunswick skull..Of course not worn with the 119th but the tunic and cap go well together (salty)

                          Wow Glenn

That's a nice tunic and crusher cap!!! . I wonder what happened to officers that were temporarily transferred to another unit for training or after been wounded. Were they allowed to continue to wear the tradition badges of the previous unit?
