Well I guess this one won’t be too hard. First the SS Gen. Is 110% fake. It is an East German tunic with bad repro insignia. Second the Panzer tunic is 110% reproduction through and through. And last the political. A little harder to tell but based on the limited photos the insignia is bad and I am not too keen on the tunic either. By the looks of the bottom pockets and lining I would say reproduction also. I am sure the more educated political guys can comment on that one. Sorry Oops I missed the three button front on the political. It should be four, it is bad also.

        Hi Joe -
As I suspected, there are the three that were on eBay. If you can return them, I sure would, or try to get your money back through PayPal. As repros, these sell for round $100-$150 each regularly on eBay.

I hope you didn't pay too much for them. Ebay dealers that sell junk like those tunics calling them "authentic" can be real chumps!

          Good luck.

            I give up

thanks alot guys for your help. Are you pretty sure about the political one? should I send more pictures of that one or should just go out into the backyard and put myself out of my misery after dropping $800 on these fakes? Do you know of any reliable sources that sell these items?

A good source is to cough up the membership fee and purchase tunics off the members e-stand until you get your feet wet.

I agree 100%. Some of the best un-messed with stuff I have purchased has come from e-stand. Not to mention prices are generally bellow dealer prices, some times well bellow.

                  Hi Joe -

If it's any consolation, I was once burned for $750 on one tunic alone as a novice collector. Fortunately, the insignia was good so I did not get completely hosed... Always post prospective buys on a forum such as this before making the buy. As an example, one shoulderboard off of the SS tunic, if real, would go for well over the $800 you sank into these three. If it's too good to be true, it almost always is. Always ask, and always be careful. There are an outhouse full of turds on eBay. Once again, I wuld try to get your money back.

                    Joe,

If I were you, I would not go for SS items until you learned more about what authentic German, military, uniforms should look like. Start off with Heer or LW before you rush in on SS or the like, you'll save your self a lot $$ and learn as you go.

I got burned back in 1982 on a pair of SS tunics, they were Heer tunics with fake SS insignia. I was mad as hell! At the time SS tunics were better than $400, while a Heer tunic without insignia was worth only $50-$75. I lost more than $350 X 2. Ouch!! I don't collect SS at all because of that.

                    Cheers!

                    Steve

First of all how could you think $800 would buy you two of the rarest SS uniforms for any collector to own? Sorry about the hard lesson and hope you get your money back. For $650 you could buy a real Heer tunic off the Estand and a member will benefit from the sale.

                        Update of my mistake

Thanks guys for your comments. Wasn't really thinking. But thought you might be tickled by the outcome... The guy ended up suing me in small claims court because I complained to ebay and pay-pal ended up retrieving the money from his account. The uniforms looked worse when I got them in the mail. This incident can be a case in example for all those cheated off ebay. Don't be afraid to drop e-bay security a line if you feel cheated in any way. They have rules specificaly barring people from selling items in a manner which affects their value. Thumbs up to e-bay for a job well done!
