Strange M43/M36?

Blank Adapted MP-40?

It might be an optical illusion but the MP-40 looks as if it is blank adapted with the muzzle reduced. Am I seeing things? If it is blank-adapted, could this be a reenactor photo? Also, wouldn't a infantryman with the IC1, an IAB, and the German Cross probably have had a Close Combat Bar?

I thought I would post another tunic that has the same features as the one I posted as the starter thread. I guess these tunics arn't as rare as one would assume??

M43's with dark green collars are not completely ncommon, I read on Feldgrau that some soldiers or officers who were disobedient or didn't like change did it. Also you see these sorts of M43s in the German war movie "Stalingrad."

I really like the mountain tunic Steve, the'43 must be your favorite pattern. Did you wind up getting the "43 with '42 lower flaps. That was a wild one.

I didn't end up with the crazy M43 after all. I went for a M43 with a Demjansk shield instead. It was a hard choice but that is the collecting game.

I didn't end up with the crazy M43 after all. I went for a M43 with a Demjansk shield instead. It was a hard choice but that is the collecting game.

A very interesting conversion from an OR's m43 to an officer's service tunic. It's also interesting to note the tailor went to all the effort of making french cuffs, modifying the collar and even installing sewn-in officer's boards...yet left the subdued enlisted eagle in place. I would have expected a bullion eagle here.

This is one of 3 officer conversions I have and it is the only one with a factory sewn EM eagle. This tunic is a true combat tunic with just enough wear to say it was there. It also has a button under the right shoulder strap for a adjutant cord. Finally, there is a ton of badge loops on and above the pockets. I realy like these EM conversions, no desk jocky, taliored tunics, just gritty combat for me.

Nearly every book I read with pictures of (mostly company grade) officers in the combat zone have upgraded EM tunics with EM eagles. I have seen pictures of Jr officers in Stalingrad with EM tabs and eagles, only the shoulder straps ID them as officers.

I'm 100% with you on that opinion!
The button for the adjutant's loop makes the enlisted eagle seem just a little more out of place...in my opinion. If low visability was the concern, certainly an adjutant's loop, officer's litzen and shoulder boards would draw the eye as much as an officer's eagle. Yes, yes...I know it was done...especially considering Glenn's photo with a helmet cover of all things. Still strikes me as odd though.

Yup. But how many of them show such extensive retailoring as to mimic the hallmarks of an officer's service tunic?

I really like your conversion tunic...definitely a real one I wouldn't mind owning myself. Just thought the eagle was somewhat noteworthy. Maybe not.
