Nothing Like a Greatcoat on a Cold Russian Night

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my love of one of the most un-sung German Military kit items....THE GREATCOAT!!!

I know the greatcoat doesn't have the fanfare as the M36 tunic but someone needs to collect them...like me!

First is my late war greatcoat!

Nice Coat Steve! Here is one you might like as well...I love anything associated with cold weather gear...whatever would have been used to stave off the cold of the "Cold Russian Nights"

Interior. Both coats are in my opinion the more difficult to find "Wachtmantel" They look great with cold weather felt boots..toque..gloves..I have a PPSH for mine as a display

Hi Scott,

Nice SS coat! Looks just like my Heer.

My Heer coat is made of the real late war wool with the shod blanket wool lining.

My LW coat is made of the earlier bluegrey wool with a very thick blanket wool lining, very heavy! It is in the same style as my Heer coat with the chest, slit pockets and the square lower pocket flaps. The only diff is the collar is smaller and there is not a built in hood.

Both my coats are very large and long, just like I like em!

I'll take some more pictures of my M36 style and my officer coats. I'll try to take better picture of my coats next time....blah! I need to take photoagraphy lessons or something.
