    Light Weight Heer Tunic????????

    Hi Guys,

Posted is an unusual Heer tunic made of cotton and with internal pockets. I have seen tunics like these before in war time photos. I think its a Austrian tunic? It looks authentic to me? The only markings are obscured. Opinions please.

    Thank you. Steve

    Steve,
I think your assumption is correct - this looks like a converted Austrian army 1933-pattern summer field blouse. I'm basing this on photos and other information presented in a regimental history of Kavallerie-Regiment 11 (personnel drawn from two former Austrian dragoon regiments) and its wartime divisional reconnaissance units. Other Austrian-origin units also wore these (and the wool equivalent). I've attached a period line drawing by the famous military illustrator Richard Knoetel.
It looks as if the shoulder straps on your tunic are piped golden-yellow - is that the case?

The shoulder straps are yellow piped in-deed (Signal). They are slip-on style and may not be origional to the tunic but the wear is the same as the tunic.

      Thank you. Steve
