    Bottonhole Ribbons on Piped Tunics

    Hi Guys -

Anyone know if it was kosher for a German officer to affix an EKII or Eastern Front ribbon to the buttonhole of a piped service tunic, or was it proscribed? Haven't been able to find any period photos or regs about that. Any help is appreciated!

Hmmmmm. Good question. Yes. If the uniform was worn as formal dress the medals would have been worn, but if worn as informal dress with the ribbon bar it was done. I base this on a period photo I've seen of it being done.

      Thanks!

      Thanks, Dave -

I am looking at a piped arty tunic that has the EKII ribbon in the buttonhole and an attached ribbon bar.

Picture I have shows an infantry officer wearing his piped field service tunic with the WWII IC ribbon through the button hole. Also has a ribbon bar on that looks like it has a ribbon for the WWI IC, and he's wearing a WWI IC 1st Class. You set up sounds just fine.
