Where Kriegsmarine Buttons Rzm Marked?

HI

Are there any members on this forum with knowledge of
kriegsmarine buttons?Where they ever rzm marked and
where they ever painted gold rather than gilded?

I have this tunic and the buttons seem a bit odd.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

From what I understand, buttons manufactured for the KM generally should not have RZM markings. However it is possible that these buttons may have been obtained by the KM either very early on (I have seen very early Heer belt buckles with RZM markings, and I have a unmarked Heer buckle on a 1936 RZM belt- these have always been together) or possibly during the later part of the war. Possibly the buttons may have been manufactured for the naval branch of a civil group (such as SA-Marine) but I am just speculating and would be interested to hear other opinions.
