Kreigsmarine Patch

I recently acquired this patch in a document group and I am wondering if anyone has any information about this item. I though it was a post war commemorative, but the swastika is incorporated into the design and I ruled that idea out. I have seen a plaque with this design on it, but that was many years ago. The small insignia in the upper right is a Minesweeper's badge design.

Yep, he served in the area and was bestowed the Afrika Cuff title.

your memory serves you well.
if you can get access to a copy of "Uniforms and traditions of the Kriegsmarine" volume 3, on page 421 a plaque showing this design is shown (with a variation in colour). The book lists it as belonging to the "Africa minesweeper flotilla". No other details are listed .
