Just found in a local antique store a huge lot of mainly german army insignia, this I have been told was used as packing at the end of WWII or just after as packing for a silver candlearbara sent from germany to the UK and probably the insignia now is worth more money than the antique item sent. As I seem to have acquired slightly more of each item than I need (just couldn't resist it) I will be putting some of the stuff on E stand

Funny you should mention that. A collector here in Texas got a uniform of GFM von Kleist because the GI that brought it back used it to wrap von Kleist's shotguns that he was "liberating". In retrospect you have to ask the question "what were you thinking!!!!????"
The lesson for us today - when chatting with vets and they show you the piece of junk art work they swiped during the war be sure to ask about the wrapping material they used to ship it home!
