Awesome wraps ! Thank you for sharing. Mr Singer does yours just have size stamps or is the depot listed, can't see it in the pic. Also was this one George brought out? Didn't notice any theater/museum stamps.

Thanks for the info on Georges early treks into Russia after the wall came down. Unfortunately I got back into collecting after all the huge caches were found there.But George did show me pictures and occasionally brought out a few odds and ends for me. What he saw was amazing; rows and rows of Third Reich and Imperial uniforms of every description.The pictures that stick in my mind are of a clothing issue point by a rail line, in the middle of nowhere. Must have been hundreds if not thousands of tunics etc. Unfortunately they were all rotted away since the issue point was only a covered shed, no walls.

Oh heres a M42 cap George brought out from a Russian theater. No insignia, had a terrible bill attached to it and no theater stamps.

Hello Jim...one one of my trips to St. Petersburg two summers ago I was in one of the large bookstors on Nevsky Prospekt..the main shopping thoroughfare downtown Petersburg. There is a very famous bookstore there....beautiful building and carries a large selection of military books and publications. I saw an older gentleman reading an Osprey publication on the Russian volunteers. I struck up a conversation with him in Russian..and we chatted forza quite some time. Turns out he was/is one of the curators of one of the military museums in Petersburg. We got along well..introduced him to my wife. He told us to come on such and such a time and day to the museum for a private tour. I saw some FANTASTIC stuff...like most museums only a small fraction of what they have is displayed..the rest..however..is tucked away. I listened more than I asked questions..and formed the impression that the articles (german) wer somewhat better preserved today than earlier.and..understood right away that he and the museum were quite savy as to the value of what they had. I never even broached the subject re acquiring anything fromt he museum..as I never wanted to run into any problems...it was fun! Scott

My contribution to the navy blue "bias". 44 marked Stug wrap..italian scratchy steel wool...binding for the armpit sleeve area same as on the sleeve closure..same material also as on the HG wraper lining. Stug pants are a more midwar field grey of better quality. The wrapper in several places makes extensive use of scrap wool.

Bias Material deep navy blue. Bias/interfacing on this and the next wrapper extends the entire length of the front panels.

A black wrapper similar in construction to the ones posted by Mr. Singer and Mike D. This one has however the Russia braid.

Navy blue bias material. Jacket is definitely not dyed black.there is some more additional off white binding material underneath the black satin material reinforcement in the armpit area.

Rb number in a bit of unusual place.but I have encountered this before..and dont believe it to be "added" ex post facto..what would be the purpose?
