HG breast eagle, opinions?

I was just informed by a moderator to discus one of my items in e-stand.

Hi Felix, I too saw this on the E-stand and wanted to PM you. Looks like someone else did it first. Appreciate you posting this question here.

You mentioned felt as the backing. It it felt or wool?

The details of the eagle, on both the back and front, concern me. I have not seen these mistakes on other known originals. Details like the thin swaz and on the feathers.

Hi Willi, these were my concerns too; the lack of the feather detail to the upper wings and the reverse embroidery.

Hi!

Felt or wool? It has no weave pattern. I allways find this question hard. For me its felt because its not fuzzy. The pearlgrey thread is quite shiny and it might be some tricks of the flash. I should have put in a scanner instead. But ofcourse those details you mention are the same any way.

Are there any photos of originals to compare with?

I bought it 8 years ago and would also like to come to a conclusion; fake or real?

Hi Felix,

A HG eagle will have the same details as any other Luft eagle, but especially like the ones backed with blue gray wool. Check the thread down below this thread for the one on Luftwaffe breast eagles initiated by John Hodgin. You will find hundreds of original eagles.

Well, Willi, thats just how I spend my last 15 minutes! Thats why I am in this forum between 1-2 hours every evening. I really like it! Better than guide books.

I thought of the HG eagle as original ofcourse. Those sublte differences are so hard to see - if you dont specialise in the topic. You can know some but not all.

Can we say for sure its a fake?

I've a feeling the pics were taken with a flash,no ?

Last thing you can do is trying to post pics of the eagle without flash or in natural daylight,especially the back..
