These images are not sufficient to inspect everything. The collar looks like it is probably all good. The shoulder straps are just too long for the tunic. Edelweiss? No way to tell. The eagle may well be replaced but I would not venture a guess from these images. The Spiess rings are oddly low on the sleeves and are normally above the slit. Looks nice, but with questions.Comment

Eagle replaced, Edelweiss original, so are the Tabs. Boards no one can tell. Spiess Rings perfect normal. Short....near perfect Tunic.

I am with Pauke on the piston rings. It's hard to say on the boards without seeing them on a mannequin - as pictured, they look too long for the tunic.

The shoulderboards look like overcoat length to me, but they are slip on so no big deal. The eagle could be original to the tunic; the dealer site doesn't say otherwise and can't tell from the pictures.
Looks like a very nice tunic that's worth a hands-on examination at a good price.

It's always a matter of opinion with hand sewn insignia. It seems the Edelweiss was more skillfully applied than the eagle for whatever that is worth. The boards are obviously not a good match, neither in size nor in rank for the Spiess position. CTs and Tresse seem nicely applied, the bottom thread looks to be the same for both suggesting application at the same time, which would make sense. Interesting lining material.Comment

1) I agree on the "Spiess" rings - too low by reg.
2) Shoulder straps are clearly for a greatcoat.
3) Agree, eagle looks reapplied (albeit well done). In 1939 I'd expect a "zip and flip".
4) From the website pics I'm not convinced the Edelweiss is original to the tunic. Stitches seem very tight into the wool of the patch, but after 70+ years I'd expect to see the surrounding wool peaks to not be there - basically what I mean is they don't look worn down to the same level of the stitching which I'd expect to see.
5) I am very suspicious of an Edelweiss on any contract produced tunic that is not of a Bavarian or Austrian manufacturer/issue depot (just a personal thing).

Hello Fellow Collectors,
I have a dissenting opinion. Generally speaking, I have not seen factory applied waffenfarbe piped collar tabs on a 1939 or later dated tunic. They have all been company tailor, or privately applied when done on tunics with 1939 dates or later.
Secondly, I have never seen a lining like that on an issue tunic, or any period tunic for that matter. There was a similar, perfect m36 tunic with pioneer collar tabs recently, which also had a strange lining and similar date, and for 2000 euro....
For my collection, I stay with what I know and has been seen and proven by other collectors over time. These are just my opinions.
