    5. Gebirgsjager insignia?

    Hello,

Last week I found this deer looking pin by metaldetecting in Overloon (a Dutch town and site of heavy fights during WWII).
While searching through an online militaria shop I accidently came across an image that looked exactly like my pin.
Logo of the 5. Gebirgsjager division.

As far as I know there were no Gebirgsjager divisions stationed in Holland, we have no mountains
Can anyone tell me if this could be an original?

    Thanks in advance!!

This is also the city of Kitzbühl in Austria symbolic badge ...
Why not 5th GJ ? Given as a souvenir to another soldier ?

Gebirgsjäger not only fought in the mountains. They fought on many fronts.
I think the pin of the 5th Gebirgsjägerdivision is an original with missing needle.
      It is for the Bergmütze.

        That's what I thought too.
Maybe placed in another division or a gift indeed..
The missing needle is my fault, at least the hinge.
While cleening it fell off, the needle itself wasn't there when I found it.

        Thank's for your thoughts!

Nothing wrong with that Pin, good one. I have the same one, with same Set up on one of my GBJ Caps.

Thx for the pictures, looks nice!!

Mine is a little different from yours, between the legs mine has an open space.
But the location where I found it and the 100% matching shape I'm pretty convinced it is an original.

I will go back searching the same spot

That is a beauty Robert! Lots of character and definitely a “one looker”. No doubt it is in good hands...but I am very jealous!
