I haven't seen one of these in awhile I wonder why there's 2 different rb#s
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Probably one maker for the coat and one maker for the fur lining.

It is to me still unknown why this greatcoat shows the leather patches. Why are there two patches at the side with leather loops? I'm sure there must be more to it. Could it be a greatcoat for supporting a man that is using a range finder mounted on a carrier?

The leather loops were intended to hold stick grenades.

Thats the usual nonsense explanation - they do not even fit in those loops...

Thats a coat for farriers / coach drivers, german term "Mantel für Fahrer vom Bock".

All references I had ever read stated the loops were for stick grenades, so your correction is very welcomed. Thank you for providing this interesting information!

Can anyone identify what the RB number on the right beginning with "9/" signifies? First one I've noticed starting with a high digit.

I can't remember off hand what the 9 prefix was thought to be,but picked up quite a few caps over the years with this type rb #

                              Rare overcoat

                              Hi All,
Interested to see another one of these over coats , as I have one in my collection.
The leather loops under the arms have intrigued me also.
