When Jim first posted the thread/image in December I contacted him to share the logo/mfg info that caught my eye when this was shown. It matched the mfg logo on one of my diplomatic eagles and I had thought & shared with him that a not often seen logo such as Bernhard Richter’s might indicate some positive vibes on the periodness of the flag/banner. Where Jim seemed, from the forum feedback, at that point, to feel that it was fake, I told him I would try to get more info out of the seller. After two months of waiting around for additional imagery the seller updated the listing and shared more pics. (http://www.alteregaliazone.net/produ...le-rally-flag/ ) I liked the construction appliqué but, admittedly, I’m no flag guy.
Anyway, I thought where I’ve invested some time in researching this, I might as well share the linkage so any running across this design in the future might be saved a bit of time.

Poking around for other examples I noted in 2010 von Stubben showed the exact same designed eagle banner ~ no size was given: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...t=eagle+banner
OFW: “ Nice eagle banner, IMO the color being for special party use occasions.”
PaulJ: “How big are they? They look good to me. There are lots of variations of these made for local use or a particular event and not produced in great numbers like standard style flags. I have (and have had) a variety of wall banners and drapes, etc that I have never seen elsewhere or only on rare occasion.”Attached Files

Another turned up http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...t=eagle+banner (same eagle design) double sided this time by Will Kramer in 2012 ~ again, no size was mentioned or real detail shown:
OFW: Interesting eagle banner. A quick Google search has some examples listed as used in a 1936 film. http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/ufe11b.htmlAttached Files

As Mike (rlimike) pointed out, Helmetbuyer’s thread/example): http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...er#post2211065 Note the similarities in machine stitching all around the appliqué in the head closeup.
Bob Colman related “NO IDEA WHAT THE EAGLE BANNER IS FOR. IT MAY BE A GENERIC BANNER USED IN A NSDAP HEADQUARTERS.”
Bill D related: “I recall a few years ago that color film was found of political festivities of some kind in Munich. The entire city was decked out in all sorts of drapes and banners that I had never seen before. Hitler was in the films, as was Robert Ley wearing a white Reichleiter tunic. And Rob's eagle banner reminds me of some of the banners that I saw in that film.”

Yet another (same pattern) mentioned here:
https://feldgrau.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=29093
Size given ~ approx 3.5 ft wide and 30 ft long. The eagle is on the bottom and is only on 1 side. it is a gold metallic cloth that is sewn on.
OFW: “Here is my guess, they look like Nazi Party Rally route or Beerhall speech wall decorations, nothing IMO per any official RZM specified or designated function, but then I could be all wet on this one? If you look at the HBO Band of Brothers series, near the end US soldiers enter a hotel decked out on the walls for high Nazi Party officials, not saying these are movie props or overt fakes, but just that they are period decorative banners.”Attached Files

The short story is that having seen this design turn up again and again in what appeared to be varying sizes and looking at the stitching of the appliqué coupled with the esoteric mfg’s logo I became willing to gamble the subject piece was a period rendition. When I contacted the seller to arrange payment he (Eric Strasser) told me to write and mail my check to his “cohort” Scott Babcock in Palm Springs California. With one more piece to research, I searched this guy’s name here on the WAF and came up with a bunch of references (all bad) to this guy. That ended my willingness to gamble.
