Looks good to me and threaded posts with nuts make for one special bird.

I would feel much better about it if it was in my collection 😉

Thanks guys for the reviews...This weekend I'm going to build a stand to hold it for display on top of a book case...will shoot a pic of it if turns out like I hope.

Well I made a stand for my RR eagle this week..its done except i need to used wire on back instead of twine...the board was meant covered completely by the eagle...the twine gives too much and exposes the board...hopefully next trip to hardware store and she be finished....now it should look better on top of the book case.

That looks awesome! Get some chicken wire to fix your problem then it will look perfect, also maybe a old model German train to sit on the base of the wood or a photo to help explain where it came from to the visiting eye. I'm so jealous.

                              Just a thought . . .

You could have a section of plexiglass cut to size, and drilled to accept the bolts and nuts of both your bird and the post on your stand - and mount it right to it. For as thin as it would need to be, the plexiglass would be light-weight - and still be strong enough to handle the weight of the bird. Would simply have to lay out a pattern for someone to craft it too - unless of course, your good with plastic.
