    RDF State Service Flag

    Hey guys,

I picked this State service flag up recently, but my plans have changed and I no longer have room to hang it in the war room. I wanted to vet it here before posting it for sale, so what do you think?

    Thanks in advance!

      Hello Longsshot841:
From the photos you posted the RDF looks
to be a WW2 period authentic example.
      Construction, material used, design detail,
all appear to be correct. A true "full shot"
of the whole flag showing all four edges,
are needed to confirm the RDF proportions.
IMO lack of header markings lowers value.

Thank you! It’s in near mint condition with only some very minor staining on the HK

IMO the 147.5x238cm size was for on land use - border &
customs, police stations, government buildings, etc. Thus
why header is without KM sea service eagle-M marking, as
KM Flaggenbuch lists the following RDF sizes used on ships...

                ----------------
                1. 40x65cm, size #2, used on vessels of less than 500 tons
                2. 50x85cm, size #3, same vessels as size #2 above.
                3. 80x135cm, size #5, again same vessels as #2/#3 above.
                4. 100x170cm, size #6, used on vessels 500 to 1500 tons.
                5. 200x335cm, size #8, used on vessels 1500 to 10000 tons.
                6. 300x500cm, size #10, used on vessels above 10000 tons.

Thanks OFW! You are a wealth of knowledge. I really like this flag, I’m tempted to keep it and make it work

worth making work in your collection room.
