Army Museum Dresden (Germany) visit

Hi all,


I was in Dresden (Germany) a couple of weeks back, and had the chance to visit
the Army Museum there, which is located about 30 minutes out of the centre
of the city. I was able to sneak a few photos of some of their exhibits before
I was sprung by a female security guard and informed that I was not allowed
to use flash photography inside the museum. Sadly without a flash most of the
exhibits are in very dark hallways, so I took the chance to sneak a few photos
before I was sprung....


Hope the photos are of some interest... mostly East German stuff and BW on display, and a small smattering of 3rd Reich ...

Here are a couple of shots from the outside of the building, it apparently wasn't
damaged during the bombing of February 1945 as it was outside of the main
bombing area in the city centre.....

And this lovely complete Luftwaffe Schellenbaum was the highlight of the trip
to the museum, and my apologies for the flash reflections, they were rather
hurriedly and furtively taken as I was scanning the area for the guards while
I was doing the shots.


I couldn't see the back of the flag so I couldn't see the unit designation on the
back of the flag. Nice to see one complete like this. I don't know how many
complete Luftwaffe Schellenbaums exist, but I am guessing that a complete
example is rather rare....

Wonderful item photos. I especially like the
West German Eagle 8th artillery red swallowtail,
& the white Prussian Line (unit ?) Infantry flag
next to the Turk or Ottoman crescent star flag.
