The eagle looks suspicious with cast pits.

          Eagle

Is there any other explanation for what looks like casting pits ??

Casting pits are minute air bubbles trapped when a reproduction is made from an actual artefact, usually due to inferior production processes. In a proper foundry, the casting process is controlled. The RZM also controls the overall quality.

Does the RZM stamped look good ? From what I have seen here it compares well with others. Thoughts ?

There are many examples of the M3/27 second pattern eagle pole top here on the forum. This example is consistent with those.

                    Agree. I’m good with it.

@military originals will have casting defects as will RR eagles and so will reproductions, --- I however do feel this one is legit based on the photos. I did take a quick video of a repro--both this pattern and the first-- and they are pretty good but the features are a bit different as they are finished differently, keep also in mind that we have now gone through a few different generations of replicas of these.

That eagle was a no brainer call, pretty hard to screw up and yet it was. I guess when your an expert on amber and everything else its easy to miss a pole top that Forrest Gump could authenticate. Not a pole expert but looks nice.
