I need some help, ID

I have had this around since the early 80's, and am very far from an expert on flags. If possible, could someone please share their expertise and help with an ID as to what purpose this flag would have had.

Construction appears to be of coarse wool bunting with printed designs. The thin yellow line in the upper left is a yard stick, and thank you in advance for the kind help.

Your flag is c.WW1 Germany/Turkey/Austro-Hungary Alliance/Pact banner, which has no official purpose other than to be symbolic of same at diplomatic fuctions. German eagle used in the upper left is the foreign office pattern eagle used by an embassy - thus the flag is symbolic of the alliances between these governments, it is not a military flag. In fact the Allied Powers had similar multi-national solidarity flags made up of the US/UK/France/Italy/Belgium/Russia flags all togeather. Likewise, the UK had a British Empire flag showing colonial state arms of India/NZ/Aust/S.Africa/Canada on a UK naval white ensign - again these were totally unofficial but very colorful to look at. <br><center>OldFlagsWanted.com</center><center><img src=http://home.att.net/~b.k.weed/nzflagwave.gif></center>
