    flag storage ?

ive just got my first flag , its nice condition with no moth damage , no fading etc

whats the best way to store old flags without getting further wear or damage ?

Mine is hanging in the back of my curio cabinet. I’ve seen them neatly folded in large ziplock bags which preserves that Third Reich smell nicely.

I neatly fold and store in large zip locks like Blondbeast666 mentioned. Some don't like the folds and roll them up in storage tubes.

I've never used them but I'd imagine you will be fine if the tubes had tight fitting end caps.

Why buy it, to hide it away?

I know...it's a shame. Unfortunately, we live in a world with people that don't understand our appreciation for history. We have some ignorant programmed minds out there that will have that knee jerk reaction and label you a Nazi. The same people that have the gall to call people intolerant if you don't accept other social situations. When people ask what I'm doing nowadays since retirement, I simply say I collect and sell antiques. I don't even want to get into it with them. And there's what EC said, the wife hates it. That's a larger than life hurdle...

Right you are, Mike! I've been a student and collector of TR history for 55+ years and it's always been thus. Makes one wonder whether students of the American Civil War are assumed to be KKK members...!!

I have mine hanging in my collection room.
First is that I do not show my collection to everyone. Not because of swastikas but because of security reasons.
Those who knows would never think I am a Nazi...because they know my values and my none existing tolerance towards right wing idiots.
Display them nicely and enjoy them as part of your collection. Your personal behaviour and way to discuss the matter witj those who will see it will demonstrate your ethical way of thinking.

                    Regards
                    Christian

Same advice for all flags, regardless of regime. FLAT is always best, but is normally only practical for smaller items.

After that, rolled is your next best option, but don't roll them on a standard cardboard tube due to the high acid content. Acid-free is the way to go if storing long-term. Roll around one tube, wrap in acid-free paper tied closed with cotton tape, then store in a larger tube. There may be less expensive sources, but this is the link I have handy: https://www.universityproducts.com/h...age-tubes.html
