    Reproduction pennant question

    Hi,

I know this is a reproduction pennant probably from the 70's. My question is was this type ever produced pre 45? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Del

      Hello Del:
I too have noted these fake SS pennants for several decades,
and I've wondered about their design origins - i.e., was there
a "real" SS pennant with SS, number and unit emblem? Or are
they just pure 1970's fantasy creations by Delta international.

      This "
series of fake SS pennants were sold by Delta International,
      once located
in the 1970's near San Francisco in the East Bay
      (near Concord) in
Lafayette California. Delta's over the counter
sales were done in a soap
windowed strip mall, the majority of
sales done by mail order catalog
ads in the "Shotgun News", and
      various magazines about antiques and
      history, etc. The Delta flags
and pennants were actually made by
      Paramount Flags in San
      Francisco, n
      ow long out of business.
      This family of fake 3,5,17
divisional SS pennants are listed as such in WAF "wmtf" as Fk17.
      Also again discussed in
      t=843885
      and in (2005) WAF t=130811, &
cited as fake again in "wmtf" t=427262 in post #77 as Fk17 - "RZM
tag series of SS Division auto pennant", which retailed for $14 USD.

(below) In an attempt to answer this design origin question WAF
member PanzerFrank posted in t=953740 the following SS photo.

I have not ever seen indications and or information about pennants like this and for me they are pure fantasy.
        Better said: bogus!
There were orders for pennants (Vbl.Waffen-SS from June 15, 1942). But they did not look as the ones from Delta.

Such pennants are neither mentioned in "Die Rimann'sche Sammlung deutscher Autoflaggen und KFZ-Stander"
from Andreas Herzfeld (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Flaggenkunde e.V). Jürgen-Waldemar Rimann was a true
expert, related to car flags and we discussed this matter with various occasions before he died. I did help him
when he planned a book, which later was taken over by Herzfeld.
