Coffin flag. Any info or opinions?

Have never seen one of these exact styles of coffin flag (padded and bordered). Can anyone lend their expertise on the subject?

    hello gc:
Ditto, not something I've seen before either.
IMO, a custom made cover, oddly two sided.

"Germany, Wehrmacht. A Second War Period Double-Sided Coffin Cover
(Wehrmacht Sargabdeckung). This is a very well-preserved, Second War
period Wehrmacht coffin cover, constructed of multi-coloured, machine-
embroidered, padded cotton twill stitched in a diamond pattern. The cover
is dual sided, with the obverse bearing a Wehrmacht-style Kriegsflagge
(War Ensign), composed of a black and white Nordic Cross with a leftward-
centered mobile swastika, with a black Iron Cross at the top left corner.
The reverse bears a 1933-1935 version Kriegsflagge depicting a central
black Iron Cross overlaying an Imperial-style red, white, and black tri-colour.
The cover is unmarked and measures 239 cm (w) x 168 cm (h). There is
some soiling, as well as material fatigue and patches of mothing, but the
cover is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition."
    Currently $2,100

Thank you for the response. Oddly two-sided. I had not thought of that but yes, you're right. For all we know, with the padding and black border, this could be a custom baby blanket. LOL?

I'm actually five minutes away from EMedals and can drop in to take a look. LOL. I guess my first question to them would be... where is your evidence that this is a coffin flag?

Yeah... last time I did that sport, I got all this anti-EMedals backlash so now I only post links.

I saw an identical example at the last SOS. Perhaps it was the same one. The price point was in the same range as well. It seemed to be what it was purported to be.

Interesting. I know that Emedals picks up or otherwise takes possession of items-for-auction from other dealers/websites that could not move items through THEIR usual channels so yeah perhaps it is the same one.

I have a flag this is “padded” or like a quilt. It does not have all that stitching though.
