    Original 1939 Flaggenbuch

    Hello,
I have in my pocession an original 1939 Flaggenbuch with no stamps.
It was bought in Berlin right before the war and the original ticket from the bookshop is also intact. The book contains a leaflet with corrections and several pages have been corrected. I've been told it is a very unique piece and I have decided to part from it after all these years. Could somebody help me with estimating it's value, give me some good directions as to to how & where would be a good way to sell it? I have tried several channels and all I get are dealers who want it for a bargain. Perhaps you know some serious collector? Some auction sites I tried refused to sell it as it is a Nazi item.

All your help would be welcome

    Best regards

    Hello MrH:
Since the 1970's I've owned the original 1939 edition of
the KM Flaggenbuch, it being marked as having seen WW2
service with three German Navy motor torpedo boat units.
As such I value my original book at $2000+ USD, but also
would never let it go, as wartime originals are super rare.
A superb reprint of the book was published by Mauritius
Buch Verlag in 1992, for $290 USD, and can subsequently
be found online for varoius prices from £ 68 to £ 397 BPS:
    abebooks.co.uk-flaggenbuch-oberkommando-kriegsmarine.

Regarding selling your original KM-FB, I would suggest that
you consider offering it on the WAF E-Stand which requires
a paid membership. Or place a sales ad in the "Military Trader".

        MrH:
        Interesting surviving original count,
what is the source for that number ?
My WW2 seen wartime service KM-FB
contains the 50 errata 1941 changes,
so likely there are even fewer of those.

I can't find it back, but I read it on a site when looking up info on the Flaggenbuch.
Mine also contains all these changes. I now see a very faint date stamp on the invoice "28 AUG 1943"... so it was purchased during the war not before.
          Cheers

            Also noted elsewhere online ...

"REPRINT OF THE BEST THIRD REICH BOOK
            ON FLAGS, BANNERS AND PENNANTS
            FLAGGENBUCH / M.Dv.NR377
ONLY 3,000 COPIES WERE REPRINTED IN 1992 OF THIS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND BOOK! WITH 1,700(!) COLOR PICTURES!
This 9 x 12 x 1-3/4 inch, 400 pages hardcover book was originally published 1939 by the Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine (OKM or High Command of the Nazi Navy) but original copies are almost impossible to find today. A German printing house republished this wonderful book in 1992 but only in a number of 3,000 copies which are now almost all in the hands of collectors, museums and other history buffs! We were fortunate to locate one of these 3,000 copies in virtually as-new condition. The book is by far the most comprehensive Third Reich publication on flags, banners, standarts and pennants. Especially the German flags are shown with all dimensions, size and exact locations of emblems, swastikas, etc.! Again, this "Flaggenbuch" is NOT an original but a superb reproduction an a one-of-a-kind reference on all kinds of flags, Nazi German and international!
