Just an observation, the front and reverse have a different "design" whereby the reverse seems to have more detail, sort of a material shrinkage as shown on the head and feathers. is this normal? The front seems to have a smoother surface all round. The details of the talons are extraordinary.

IMO back to front detail would likely vary
somewhat as a function of the sculptor's
attention given during the making of the
mold master & accounting for more final
smooting to the front surface - my guess.

(below) Here they are again side by side,
showing IMO great detail on both sides.

            Thanks, OFW.
From my observation, most first pattern poletops had the smooth detail, and my first time seeing the sculpted variant. Interesting to know that the front and back had a different sculpting style which seems to be a little of an inconsistency with the person. just my opinion. thanks again, OFW. Interesting thread.

On a different tangent, did the Gahr firm also produce this 1st pattern poletop, apart from those marked RZM

              I note from 2017 in t=926597 you asked a similar Gahr 1p
question. At the time WAF member
              Joseph Reavis replied, ...
"Not that I have seen". I've noted Gahr on the 2p tops.

Gents, I always noticed a difference in detail from front to back. In my experience, never a mirror image. Notably, the eagles middle neck feather and oak wreath always different from front to back.
