    Sizes of Imperial war flags

A local antique shop recently had an Imperial German war flag for sale......From what I could see, the construction looked right.....Was silk screened material with manufacturing information along the header....Had "Berlin 1918" and size "55 X 100" on it....Have to admit, the size was one I'm not familiar with and with a $550 price tag decided not to persue.....This and I really don't collect Imperial German WW1 pieces....A few days ago it sold....Was the size proper for an original WW1 flag?.....All thoughts appreciated including Old Flags....Bodes

I am not familiar with WWI material, but in one of my catalogues sizes are mentioned for such flag, being:
    U-Bootsflagge 100 x 66 cm
    Torpedobootsflagge 157 x 95
    Gaffeflagge II 200 x 125
    Gaffelflagge I 250 x 150
    Toppflagge 315 x 190
    Admiralsflagge 100 x 100
    Viceadmiralsflagge ibid
    Kontreadmiralsflagge ibid
    Divisionstander 80 x 65
    Flotten- und Halbflottillestander 150 x 60
    Preussische Kriegsflagge 100 x 66 as well as 150 x 95

and all sizes one wanted were possible to be delivered (weitere Grössen auf Anfrage).

Thanks Wilhelm, What catalogue did this information come from?.....All sizes must mean made to custom size, or whatever the person desired?....Bodes

Fritz Finke from Wilhelmshaven, Illustrierter Katalog. No year indication, but handwritten there is a note from about 1930. The catalogue includes a several hundred of naval cap tallies from the Imperial navy for those that look for them as a rememberance and from the Reichsmarine.

IDK, as I've not yet seen an authentic
WW1 IKF in that size. However, I am
skeptical as the size you stated is
close to known 60x90cm fakes. So
an evaluation of the center eagle
              and header details would needed
to say for sure one way or another.

Thanks Ben, The size concerns me as well.....If somebody did pay that price ($550 plus sales tax) and it's bogus, that would be a bit disconcerting....Bodes
