    New DAF Flag - Holsterhausen

I finally decided to purchase the flag. It is interesting to say the least. The flag has typical pre RZM rings (top one has a hole), with the bottom ring missing. The flag itself uses the standard material, with rayon and felt for the patch. The white and black material are different from the norm. The black has a bit more of a sheen and the white looks to have been scavenged from another purpose (as seen by the odd angled stitching holes. I laid the flag out a few times, and I'm convinced the intention of the flag's builder was for a resting swastika. The poor construction makes me smile. I'm not sure if this had any bearing, but I read that Holsterhausen was an economically depressed area before and during the war. They may have had to make due with the material and labor that was available. I took some color pics of the flag. Enjoy.

I think I figured out this flag. It was converted into a DAF flag using a different flag as a loaner. Looking at the stitch holes that remain on the white cloth, you can trace out a larger swastika. Also, I recently had a professional photo taken that revealed a circle that was not seen otherwise, which coincides with the size of the previous swastika. You have to look closely to see the circle (lighter color fabric). Excuse the swastika green lines, it is slightly off scale due to lines only being in the white.
