ID Help

I admit to not knowing a lot about flags. But this is one I do not recognize or remember seeing before. Any help as to ID and possible value? I do not have it in hand so can't give dimensions etc sorry to say. Apologies also for poor quality of photos, they are a picture of a picture. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

That is a scarce HJ Bann flag ... if I am not mistaken as flags are not my area of collecting. It is a shame about the moth holes as that will affect the value these are scarce and pricey JMHO ... nice find.

Many thanks to those who have posted here and PM'd me. I have learned a lot.

This belongs to a very nice widow lady who wants to sell it but I have no idea what to offer her or what to sell it for myself if I buy it. If anyone would care to PM me with ideas along those lines I would be very grateful.

I could possibly ask her if she would let me stop and pick it up on the way to the SOS and bring it with me if someone is interested but I'll need a value figure to throw out to her.....and yes I know it is hard to say without seeing damage, size, etc. Just a ballpark figure would be a big help.

I was asked if this flag is double sided or single sided and I don't know because I have not yet seen it in person. But my question is, were they made both ways or were they ALL double sided or ALL single sided?

HJ Bann flags are two sided, in other words flag
is separate eagle sides sewn together, as per
photos shown in previously cited threads. HJ-BF
prices can range from $5K to $10K USD, based
on condition, venue, & serious collector interest.
With only four surviving, by photo confirmation,
realized price could even go higher based on rarity.

Nice, 274 is indeed previously unknown. The HJ forum has good lists of these flags and of the next level down (Gefolgschaft etc) for those interested.

Hey OFW,
The HJ forum flag lists were begun 5 years ago and they have more flags listed than the WAF list. I think they would have precedence if this is a ****-swinging contest :-) The list is far better presented over there imo but it would seem that WAF uses an ancient version of the vbulletin forum software so we are limited over here I guess. I'll try to grab that pic for ya
