Strange to me - probably not to others

A little bit of "expert" help if you can please, I have had this some time and always thought it was for the NSBO ‘N.S. Beamtenabteilung – Department Officials Patch

Being Black with silver / white edging and writing but it can't be a flag corner patch as it is double sided and has the Hakenkreuz on one side and writing on the other.........Any ideas? The detail is fantastic but really I have no idea apart from what WS has told me, but even then He is not 100% sure

    Hello JB:
Eagle side looks like a souvenir corner
patch from a flag, with a later added
swastika side to make the fragment
into a ttb. What did WS say on this?

      Thanks OF

This is what I received from a dear friend WS
NSBO… In this case, a civil servant, who is united in a holding cell organisation. The Black Ground, surrounded with a silver cord, was used for this.

However Your theory about someone putting this together after the war as a souvenir could be right BUT look at the effort that went into piecing the 2 bits together. And what exactly would the Red White and Hakenkreuz come from? .........Its had me stumped for a long while

        JB:
Thanks for posting the WS NSBO ID info.
        IMO the
        souveniring more likely occured
before 1945, when the flag was damaged,
replaced, or retired during the 3rd Reich.
Thus the nice swastika backing to make
the ex-flag corner patch into a displayable
        table top banner.

(below) IMO swastika on red appears to exactly
cover the black NSBO CP front, thus done with
deliberate care to maybe display as a ttb.

            more about souveniring ???

Flag souveniring is an interesting practice,
something done by many nations across time.
Flag fragments can be a whole collecting area
in their own right - I have many such examples.
My oldest is a circa Am-Rev British Army Queen's
            colour, which
came my way via a 1970's London
            estate sale for just a
            few hundred dollars. Although
only a center fragment it is still intact as a superb

piece of English crewel embroidery done by the ladies
            in waiting to the
Court of King George the Third.
