Sadly the gilt work engenders spurious RK origins.
Nice to see on this one (below 2/3) a non-RK GI
    PB capture attribution.

"Very rare Reich banner which might have come from the Reichs
Chancellery. The banner is made from cotton with gold bullion
brocade border, wreath, swastika and fringe. I have another
one that is identical to this which is also available that the vet
told me came from the Reichs Chancellery but I can not verify
    the story. ...$800
    SOLD!." from WAF in 2012.

(below-2) PB in question on WAF server.

(below-3) PB in question with GI capture marking for LINZ Austria.

This PB was signed in the city of Linz on may 9th 1945... like most GI's they signed any available flags on the day of surrender... so this could be a banner captured in the city of Linz, or was on hand from another taken location and signed on may 9th. The city was liberated May 4th. Who really knows the history of this neat banner except the people who signed it... I am trying to research the names and possible units in the city around that time...

The 11th Armored Division captured Linz around the 5th of may... along with the 65th ID, along with the 26th ID

Ok, ao my research indicates one of the signers belonged to the 1106th Engineer Combat Group

I had a banner like this and I sold it. I'd like to buy another one - they are very impressive.

Confirmed one signature to Joseph Raley to the 1106th combat engineers... an impressive unit that landed on D-Day, and ended up in Linz at the end of the war... https://bullittcountyhistory.org/memories/poorfarm.html
