Are the grommets on this vehicle ID flag correct?

I need help with this one because the grommets seem unusual to me. I need to verify whether this is an authentic period vehicle ID flag but I do not have experience with them The center disk is separately sewn. The size is 26 iin. x 39 (or 39 1/2) in. which equates to 66 cm x either 99 or 100 cm.

So is all good with this one? All assistance will be greatly appreciated.

In addition, I believe the grommet material is aluminum.

They can be aluminum I believe and it looks o.k here.

The grommets being aluminum are still a curiosity for me, but additionally the forming of the grommets.

Does anyone else have experience with these?

Andy's example illustrates grommets more in line with what i would expect so I am still trying to make a conclusive determination on the one i posted.
